Critical Resistance has surpassed 15,000 subscribers. I wanted to take the time to say something I’ve never really said out loud.
I’ve rarely paused to celebrate milestones for this publication. Mostly because I wish I didn’t have to be writing it, and that you didn’t have a need to read it. The best outcome I could imagine is that all of this fades into the memory of a strange chapter in history; one we survived. Maybe I’d go on to write different things that find their audience for better reasons. And all of us would return to lives with a sense of safety we no longer have to defend.
But if this is our reality for now, I’m profoundly grateful to be here with you and to know you’re here with each other.
For every dollar you’ve contributed in uncertain times, making this work sustainable.
For every time you’ve shared or liked a piece, helping it reach someone who needed to feel a little less alone.
For the comments that remind me (and others) that solidarity still lives in language.
And for the simple act of reading, even when the truth is exhausting or terrifying. That matters more than you know.
Thank you.
I’ll be back soon with the next piece. For now, thank you for making space for this work and for one another.
I have sent all of the money which I do not absolutely have to keep to animal protection causes, and general environmental causes until now. I came upon your writing recently, and felt so affected by how knowledgeable, determined, and moral you are. Thank you for your energy, your time, your good intentions, and your commitment to justice
Yes, kudos for all you do and share! It does make me feel less alone, and less like I am loosing my mind in all of this craziness.
