Absolutely deplorable. A living nightmare for the humans incarcerated there under the inhumane conditions that have been reported. We MUST NOT let this government regime hide from their instigation and cooperation with El Salvador’s authoritarian regime. Our protests MUST become even larger to include Trump’s misuse of power.
Absolutely. These abuses must not be allowed to disappear quietly. Your point about broadening our protests to address Trump’s misuse of power alongside Bukele’s authoritarianism is crucial. The more people understand how deeply interconnected these actions are, the stronger our resistance can become.
Agreed, the involvement of the U.S. government in these abuses demands accountability. International awareness and pressure are key. Speaking out as loudly as possible about these human rights violations is the first step towards justice.
Regardless of whether Trump has the legal authority to unilaterally deport Venezuelans back to Venezuela, what is his legal authority to deport a Venezuelan or any other non-citizen of the U.S. to a country of Trump's choosing to have that person thrown into prison there ? I must be missing something here because it sounds so Draconian and fascist.
Recently, a federal court ruled that once immigrants destined for deportation are placed in detention, they have a right to habeas corpus to challenge their prospective deportation.
My question is: Does this allow Trump's thugs to roam the streets at night to haul out their targets, as the Nazi's rounded up Jews, and throw them into cattle cars on trains headed for Texas when they would then officially be placed in detention, where a Trump loving judge would summarily reject their arguments?
This is the most horrifying story I've read about the policies our esteemed king has unleashed on us. I am sickened reading the details of what is going on inside this and other prisons in El Salvador.
As we enter Holy Week, let us pray to a merciful God to save us from these horrors. And let us be brave enough to defend human rights around the world.

This is obscenely inhumane. The USA should be tried for crimes against humanity.
