Four vanished Americans and leaked Signal messages show why Trump needs secrecy—and why military deaths are buried in silence. This isn't incompetence. It's prep work.
Absolutely. This is a great time to mention that all subscription fees go directly toward supporting the publications that make my research possible. Journalists, along with lawyers and judges, are critical frontline defenders right now.
If I was younger than 77 and in better health, I would be seriously considering leaving the country. My son-in-law said I have Trump Derangement Syndrome (I wasn’t insulted.). At least I try to get my news from different sources & know if that source is neutral or which way they lean unlike him that is plugged in to MAGA radio all day.
You're doing exactly what matters most: staying informed and thinking critically. Age or health may limit options, but your awareness helps those around you who might not yet understand what's happening. You're in good company being accused of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" usually just means you're paying close attention. Glad to have you here!
Thank you so much. I’ve been up all night reading & researching. I can think or check facts when I write but trying to speak what I’m learning or thinking I get rather tongue-tied, probably because I’m so worried about all that is happening.
I deeply appreciate your reporting. This is utterly horrifying, but it’s better to know about it than to not know. I’m gonna share your report right now.
I get it, there’s plenty to feel down about right now. But there are bright spots too: the judge assigned to Signalgate is the same one handling the Venezuelan deportation case, and he's already shown he won't roll over for the administration. These battles are tough, but having principled people in the right places matters. Glad you're here. We're all navigating this chaos together.
I am an ex GI and I think it is terrible that these men are being ignored.
I think The Atlantic would benefit from some new subscribers.

Are you affiliated with The Atlantic?
I would, but I've been one for years. Great magazine.
That does not surprise me!

I identify. I’m almost 84. My husband is 88. Our 52 yearl old son has cystic fibrosis and diabetes. For us there will be no escaping this situation.
I hope you can reach out to community and neighbors. There are a lot of caring people who want to build community right now.

Good point. Well done!
I for one would like to know why they were there. Hopefully more people will as well.
Thank you for your clear analysis of these events. Sadly, I think that you are accurate.
As a proud subscriber to the Atlantic and Guardian of the ACLU, this is a news story I have missed elsewhere. Thank you for the insight!
Thanks for trying to cheer me up
