Don't use Tr*mp's name. He craves attention. Use "The Republican Administration" in any public communication and particularly for protest signs. This then makes them ALL complicit.
That’s an important point—highlighting complicity is crucial. Using ‘Republican Administration’ or ‘Republicans’ helps keep accountability broad. People should absolutely use what feels most strategic and effective to them.
But MAGA implies an extremist/specialist perspective when at this moment it is all Republicans, save for maybe a few. I prefer Republicans as they will still be around when big Orange is no more, and they need to be held accountable.
Anat ShenkerOsorio, (messaging guru who focus group tests messages for their effectiveness in swinging persuadable voters to Dem side and for effectiveness in getting people to take action) just release this report FASCISM AND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE this week & MAGA regime was able to both gain support & inspire action. Make this make sense.... Death camp. Why would they continue to house and feed? They're not slave labor, I've read they are in their cells 23.5 hrs a day. Why keep them alive? Something doesn't compute in my brain.
It’s a good question. These kinds of regimes often rely on fear and suffering as strategic tools. They’re not just eliminating individuals; they’re sending a broader message of terror, intimidation, and control. By keeping people alive in torturous conditions, they create visible proof of their power and cruelty, which they hope will silence and break the will of anyone who might oppose them. It’s about psychological warfare as much as it is about physical suffering.
The images they use in their propaganda depicts controlled bodies that have been stripped of individuality, dehumanized. I think it’s psychologically more terrifying than torture.
Exactly. Dehumanization is at the heart of their strategy. By stripping away individuality, they send a chilling message: “If we can do this to them, we can do this to anyone.” Recognizing this tactic is essential and it’s why our resistance must always reassert the humanity they’re trying to erase.
The point is to destroy them in all the ways that makes us human beings and individuals, from torture, including starvation, to denial of basic cleanliness, and the sun and wind on skin.
Anyone would rather face a firing squad, or be shot in the back of the head, than utterly destroyed.
They are being paid to, with US funds. Apparently funding for school lunches is wasteful, but this is considered money well-spent. Also, since these funds were not approved by Congress, this is totally illegal.
I appreciate the intent to apply psychological pressure, but I suggest keeping the messaging clearly tied to Bukele’s actions and accountability rather than personal insults. Personal insults risk being dismissed by those we need to inform. We need to ensure our focus remains sharp on the systemic abuses taking place.
I use the word “disappear” deliberately—it’s historically and strategically significant. “Disappearances” have been a hallmark of authoritarian regimes specifically because they convey state-sponsored secrecy, erasure, and systemic violence.
Calling it kidnapping or murder, while valid crimes, individualizes and obscures the organized intent behind what’s happening. My goal is to draw attention to the pattern, the historical resonance, and the larger systemic threat we face.
This isn’t semantics; it’s strategy. But please use whatever language in your posts and signs that feel correct for you.
There's a historical connection in using the word "disappeared". Augusto Pinochet "disappeared" large numbers of young people who resisted the regime. It got so bad, that mothers of the disappeared began silent protests through Chile. All they did was bear witness and ask for where their children were. It took a few years, but it did eventually bring global attention to what the Pinochet regime was doing, and helped bring him down.
Yes, I know. But the word is bloodless, vague, and kidnapping and murder invoke the violence of what's really happening. Someone disappearing is hard to picture, but there's vivid imagery associated with grabbing someone or killing them. My feeling is, let's depict the horror of the situation so people will get it. Otherwise they may simply shrug. Of course that's just my opinion.
Does death camp or concentration camp have more impact? I want whatever I put on my sign to be a disturbing memory that people can't get out of their heads. This abomination of an "administration" must be seen for the evil that it is.
Anat ShenkerOsorio just released focus group tested messaging to NAME THE CRISIS & avoid normalizing the illegal actions & intentions as well as emphasize harm being done by whom & to victims.
Testing showed to
USE “MAGA regime
OR Regime by the bullies, for the billionaires” NOT ‘Trump govt or admin”
Use “Fascist power grab or Hostile takeover of govt” NOT “constitutional crisis or govt overreach”

The ‘Republican regime’; they are no longer governing according to the rule of law, and so are not a legal ‘administration’.
Or “Republican Regime” (takes up less space on signs)🤓
‘MAGA Regime’ takes up even less & more specificly names perpetrators

Very useful. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you. I'll be using this and a couple pics to make my sign.
CECOT is a Death Camp.
Bukele built it.
We are funding it.
The GOP Regime is populating it.
I’d like to copy your verbiage, if you don’t mind—With only one tiny change: “ Maga’s Reign of Terror is populating it.”
I claim no copyright. :) As long as you promise to hold it high!!!

Chilling
The imprisoned are meant to be a terrifying example to others.
Maybe to torture them, to make their lives a living hell to the point that death might seem a mercy 😞
There are no words. I am just sick.

Bring them home! Bring them allllll home.
Try "Bukele is Trump's Whore." THAT one will get him. I'm a Psychological Scientist. Trust me. THAT message will hit Bukele HARD.

It’s awfully terrible as a part of violation to the human rights as it’s the brutal human cruelty !
